Christina was born and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan and is the youngest of three siblings (all daughters), thus she learned early on in life to be very independent. Following High School, Christina took some time to work in Regina and travel. In 1996, she made the big leap and moved to Calgary, AB to begin her career. She quickly obtained a position as a receptionist with a local Insurance Brokerage firm and within one year, Christina was fully life licensed and was the brokerage manager of the firm with over 200 agents. This was not an easy undertaking for Christina, as she was a young female in charge of advising and educating a group consisting mostly of 50+ year old career agents. In this situation, she knew that she would need to be an expert in her field and therefore took numerous continuing education courses and found a mentor in the industry that provided her with a wealth of knowledge.
It didn’t take long for Christina to realize that there was more to the industry than Insurance and chose to leave the brokerage firm to pursue a career in Estate Planning. She obtained a position with a reputable Estate Planning organization in 1998 and worked there for 15 + years. Christina grew within the company, starting off as an administrator, then moving to marketing, followed by becoming the Manager of Operations. In 2003, Christina took a three year pause in her career to move to BC, get married and start a family. Unfortunately, in 2005, Christina’s husband passed away in a car accident, leaving her with a young family, with no estate plan and no insurance in place. This tragic event helped solidify the importance of her work and the necessity of a proper estate plan. She was determined to educate her clients and help them through the estate planning process.
In 2006, Christina moved back to Calgary with her two young sons, and re-established herself at the Estate Planning Firm, but this time as a planner. She quickly obtained her Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation and became a student member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners Canada. Working with lawyers and accountants who specialized in estate law for the past 10 years, Christina has become an expert in her field and is known in the industry for not only her knowledge and expertise, but for her compassion and understanding of the softer issues surrounding this sensitive type of planning. She has been successful in her career because she is passionate about the role she plays in people’s lives and is committed to finding the right solutions that work for them.
Christina’s personal life has been blessed with two amazing sons, Trystin and Tyler and a supportive and loving partner, Dustin and step children, Nathan and Kayla. Her love of her family and the importance of protecting them has carried over into her enthusiasm for the Estate Planning process and her love of her clients and their families.
