Curtis Mayert

Investment Advisor, Senior Vice President

Born in Humbolt Saskatchewan, raised in Saskatoon. One of three children with an older sister and younger brother. Growing up in a middle class family brought understanding to what hard work was all about, the value of money, and it didn’t come easy.

After attending The U of S, Curtis spent numerous years completing the CSC, US and Canadian Futures and Options course, Officers and Directors course, Designated Registered Options Principle course. After 28 years of experience as both a Senior VP or Institutional Sales and Senior VP of Retail high net worth clients, Curtis still enjoys all aspects of the business, joking with Chad and Sue that they will likely be hauling him out in a coffin.

After completing the real estate course, Curtis at 19 years old started a career with AE Lepage in Saskatoon, quickly rising to the top. In his first year he won Rookie of the year in Canada. In 1987 he was given an opportunity to start his year career as a financial advisor with Walwyn Stogell Cochrane Murray. Wow what a year to start in the business, “The Crash of 1987”. Very few advisors have experienced such an event. This was the beginning of a very successful career.

Curtis was one of the founding partners of a very successful Calgary based Investment Dealer, where he built a dynamic institutional sales team. This allowed him to transfer the knowledge, skills and institutional relationships into one of NBF’s most successful Wealth Management teams in the country.

This team has been acknowledged as Team of the Year consistently since 2011.

For his recognition as a successful team leader, Curtis has been ahead of the industry at all times knowing the needs of his clients and what’s important to them. He surrounds himself with partners that he says are far smarter than he is. He’s continually adapting and changing to make sure they are constantly looking after their clients best interests. The relationship that Curtis has developed with Chad and Sue is one that very few people have been able to achieve in the industry. He is very proud to call them his partners and close friends, laying down the foundation for a team and business that will continue to grow and service his clients for many years to come.

His dedication and love for his wife Kim, daughter Hailey and son Kade carries on into his passion for the investment industry. Curtis enjoys spending countless hours with his family and friends at the lake, on the water looking for someone to play with. Winter on the hill or on the trail is always a place that he can be found when not at work. Late at night you may run into him walking his dogs Charlie and Brodie.

Curtis’ goal was to build a team and business that would have the qualities that he could entrust his wife Kim, children Kade and Hailey’s wealth with when he passes on, knowing that they would be ok.

That’s what MLD is today!

With close to 60 years of experience, MLD Wealth Management is a business encompassing all the skills knowledge and the support of NBF to ensure that their clients and their families will be looked after for generations.

If anyone asked Curtis if there was one thing he could leave this business with, it would be the lasting friendships and memories of those lives that he had touched and had been a part of as a financial advisor.
