Canada Gives is a public foundation and registered charity, established in 2005 by Denise Castonguay to support the expansion of philanthropic foundations and increase long-term giving opportunities for donors to make their legacy count in Canada and abroad.
Canada Gives offers committed philanthropists the most flexible and administratively simple way to support funding of their preferred charities through our customized Donor Advised Funds (DAFs). Most of our DAFs operate as family foundations, giving donors the ability to fund their preferred charities to meet immediate needs, as well as creating a long term funding base to support charitable programs each year.
Our unique philanthropic foundation administration platform enables donors in Canada to allocate any gift between today and tomorrow’s funding and build a high-impact foundation.
Every year, 94,000 kids from Calgary, across the province, the prairies and the country – rely on help from our hospital.
Through the generosity of our donors we are able to provide funding for family centred child health programs, specialized life-saving equipment and advanced pediatric research and education at the Alberta Children’s Hospital. Community support makes our great hospital – exceptional!
We all have friends, family or loved ones who have been impacted by cancer and all of us, at one time or another, have been pulled into its devastating wake. Cancer is horrible, but there is nothing more unfair than a cancer diagnosis of a child. We invite you to be a part of a community of people dedicated to ending childhood cancers. Together, we CAN make a difference. We can show these families they are not alone, that we care and that there is hope. The movement starts here and it starts now.
Harry Kiyooka’s and Katie Ohe’s vision is to develop and establish a world-class, visual arts centre and sculpture park that encourages and inspires creativity in a tranquil, natural forest and wetlands habitat. KOAC will be a permanent cultural legacy for the communities of Springbank, Rocky View County, the City of Calgary and the Province of Alberta. KOAC will offer a dynamic environment for the academic research, art education, and for the promotion and exhibition of the best in Canadian and international contemporary art.
To establish the Centre, Katie and Harry donated their 20-acres Springbank property, their art collection, library/archives, personal works, and a generous endowment fund. Their motivation was simple and humble: to give back to the community by preserving their land and a unique ecosystem intact, by promoting the local cultural identity through increased participation in Calgary vibrant arts scene, and by contributing to the cultural enrichment and community pride of the city.
