Growing up as the middle of three sisters in St. Albert, AB, Sue learned to be independent early on in life. Following a year of work and travel after high school, Sue decided to spread her wings and moved to attend the University of Calgary. She learned early on by working at TD Bank as a part time summer student how good management of one’s financial affairs can impact so many areas of a person’s life.
Upon graduating from University, she continued her career with TD, eventually finding her passion by focusing on the investment side of the industry. Working as a Wholesaler with TD Asset Management for many years, Sue was able to see firsthand many exceptional Financial Advisors, and many who were not. This inspired her to leave a very well paying position and become a Financial Advisor herself, allowing Sue to work directly with individual clients and their families for the long term.
As Sue’s career progressed, she made a decision to focus on being a Wealth Advisor, developing and implementing financial roadmaps to manage wealth, organize client’s financial lives, and provide oversight and direction on all aspects of a client’s financial well being. After being recognized as a leader within her firm in this area due to her focus and specialization in wealth planning, she was privileged to enter into a partnership with Curtis Mayert and Chad Larson in 2012, thereby creating one of National Bank’s, and the country’s, top wealth management teams.
Sue has learned from past personal mistakes that acting without a plan, without clear purpose and direction, without asking why you are actually doing something, can lead to disastrous results.
Sue loves the constantly changing and ever evolving wealth management business, and takes great pride and satisfaction in being able to help clients manage their wealth to achieve their life goals. Sue has been successful because she is passionate about her work, committed to helping clients, and excellent at finding out what is really important in their lives.
Sue’s positive energy and enthusiasm carry over into her personal life. Sue is currently on the board of Women Working in Calgary, volunteers in various community organizations, and enjoys being active through skiing, mountain biking and running with her husband and their two young sons.
